Teach Us to pray

by Colin Dexter

In Luke 11 the a disciple asks Jesus to teach them to pray.

What is interesting to note is that almost certainly the disciples new how “to pray”, having been taught in childhood how to say the prayers expected of them.

However, when they watched Jesus pray it was different. It was as if Jesus was really talking to his heavenly Father, really in relationship.

They watched then asked and I paraphrase – “teach us to pray like that”

That is the particular significance of Jesus saying pray– Our(my) Father.

Just as Jesus prayed to his heavenly Father in relationship expecting answers & comfort so can we.
