Planning permission was given to build a new community hall on this particular site below in March 19.

However, the Council refused the lease of the land in October 21 so the project has come to an end and no new facility will be built for the residents of Ty Sign.

The new hall would have been sited about a half length alongside the MUGA leaving all the green space to the left of the MUGA untouched. (See below)

 The Council suggested the site as the best option amongst others discussed and they held all the evidence that all the viability studies and environmental studies have been conducted and the project had passed them all.

A report to Caerphilly council’s planning committee said: There is still sufficient land left over within the site and within the surrounding area for the community to continue to enjoy.”

Planning officers said ‘minimal’ construction work needed to build the centre and car park means formal play facilities would not be impacted March 2019

The Council also decided not to grant the lease in October 21 so the project is effectively closed and there is no inward investment into Ty Sign as the money cannot be transferred to other projects.

The Agape Community Church, a registered charity has been
leading efforts to get funding for a new community hall. They have met in the existing Channel View
Community Hall for the last 18 years or more , but were seeking to develop a new ,modern building would have been available to hire by the community and hopefully increase opportunities for use within the community.
