Spiritual awakening

by Colin Dexter

Pietro Sarubbi, who played Barabbas in The Passion of the Christ, wasn’t just acting—he was being transformed.

Though he originally wanted to play Peter, Mel Gibson cast him as Barabbas, telling him: “Don’t look at Jesus until the moment your character is freed.”

When that moment came and his eyes met Jim Caviezel’s-Sarubbi said it felt like an electric shock. In that gaze, he felt as though Jesus was truly looking into his soul.

That single moment sparked a deep spiritual awakening that led him to embrace Christianity.

He later shared his testimony in the book “From Barabbas to Jesus – Converted by a Look”. Ш

Sometimes, one look is all it takes to change everything.
