They were tried on 19 May 2015 and last October the four men were sentenced to one year in prison for spreading Christianity in Iran, a ruling they appealed.
Following a re-trial on 1 February 2016, the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court upheld their sentences.
“But the Bible’s language is clear that Adam and Eve were real people. Their historical existence and fall into sin are foundational to the gospel of Jesus Christ. In addition, the science of genetics—including human and chimp comparisons, mitochondrial and Y chromosome DNA, and human genetic variation—confirms and is consistent with the fact that all humans have descended from an original couple specifically created by God as described in Genesis,” it added.
In a letter delivered to every Church in England, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York wrote:
“It is impossible to overstate the life-transforming power of the Lord’s Prayer. It is a prayer that is reassuring enough to be on the lips of the dying and yet dangerous enough to be banned in cinemas. It is famous enough to be spoken each day by billions in hundreds of languages and yet intimate enough to draw us ever closer into friendship with Jesus Christ.”
So, inspired by the simple, yet powerful words of the Lord’s Prayer, the Church of England are inviting communities to join together and pray for God’s kingdom to come in this nation.
“THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE”
Thy Kingdom Come is encouraging Churches to join together with a specific prayer: For every Christian to receive new confidence and joy in sharing their faith. It’s an incredible opportunity to join together and pray for transformation.

T: “While I was in jail I met some Christians who were in prison for their faith. I watched them to see how they behaved and how they talked. There was something about them that attracted me, and I began to talk to them.
‘At that time I was very lonely and empty. One of the believers lent me their Bible and I started to search for God. I read the Bible every day looking for answers and as I did this I realised that I was not living a holy life. In that dark and dirty prison cell God touched my heart, and I gave my life to Him.'” (Release)
