An amazing and unforgettable weekend for your youth group this summer!

If you’re looking for an action-parked weekend which will be a cracking end to your school year, then look no further than SPREE. SPREE offers a fast and furious programme of brilliant activities that you’ll absolutely love, plus an inspirational spiritual programme where you can explore the Christian faith. Then there’s the famous Friday night BBQ, the joy of camping (with some exceptions!) and the opportunity to compete against other youth groups in a whole host of fun tournaments throughout the weekend. All in all, you’ll be booking your place for 2012 before your 2011 weekend is done!

Pray for the group going to Llanelli this w/e 1st to 3rd July

418 update!

by Colin Dexter

Agape Community Church has a passion for seeing the needs of the community met. and for seeing those around Risca and Ty-Sign recognising that God loves them, and Jesus has died and risen again so that everyone can have a relationship with their heavenly father.

Agape relates it’s mission on Ty-Sign to a bible verse – Luke 4:18.

The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed.

In 2008 Agape launched a project called 418 which aimed to find out the needs of the community and to meet them in the best way that we were able to. over 40 volunteers gave up a weekend to help community members to complete jobs they were unable to do by themselves.

This year we are running 418 again, but with a bit of a difference.

Come along to the TLC for a cup of tea, and while your there get some helpful advice on managing your money in the current fincial climate.

There will be activities for the kids and free refreshments for the adults.

Come along to the field opposite the TLC from 1. 30pm to have a go at various sporting activities. We have everything from Frisbee golf to wellie wanging! Have a bit of fun, and stick around for the free community BBQ at 5pm. After everyone has had some food we will be welcoming Evaburn plus a guest. Stick around to hear them play and enjoy the evening!

If it rains, the afternoon activities will be in the Manor pub’s hall. They will be slightly scaled down but just as fun! To save them (and us) getting too wet if it rains, the bands will be playing from 7pm in St David’s Church hall.

A team of volunteers will be spending the day completing gardening projects in the community. They will also be very busy on Sunday, so if you have a few hours to spare over the weekend and you want to help someone out with a bit of gardening or help us rid the estate of litter, signb up on Saturday on the field or send us a message on the blog and we will get back to you asap.

We are looking for more community volunteers – for this weekend! If you can spare a couple of hours please do get in touch! You can also sign up by going into the TLC Cafe and adding your name to the list of vounteers on the board!

See you there!!! We can’t wait!

Thursday group is back… still looking for a name!

by Colin Dexter

A very wise person once told me to ‘start from the very beginning, it’s a very good place to start!’
Ok, it was Maria in the sound of music, and she wasn’t really telling me, but seven strangely attentive and responsive children, but we can pretend!

Yesterday we held the first youth group of the year, and I think it was enjoyed by all. We started at the very beginning of time, and managed to fit seven days in to one hour session. We talked about creation, and they created the world. I thought you might like to see what we made… here it is…

If you are in year 6/7/8 please come along to the TLC on a Thursday evening at 6 til 7. It would be great to see you there.

Also, if you are free on a Thursday between 5.45 and 7.15 and would like to help out please let me know!

Evaburn logo

Hello friends and Agapites
Evaburn have come up with an alternative logo from the usual fiery one and we’d like your comments on it because we know that people who use this site have impeccable taste.

So do you prefer this;

or this?

Sorry no prizes for this one but your thoughts would be appreciated.

Today’s Challenge from the Sermon!

by Liz Owen

Greetings all!

From today’s sermon we thought it might be fun/interesting/theological (delete as appropriate) to have a ‘challenge from the sermon’ and this weeks challenge is….

  • Wind Turbines – does God care?

What do you think? Add your comment below and lets see where we end up!
